White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby indicated on Friday that "the administration of President Joe Biden will not allow extremists, including those in Israel, to derail the ceasefire talks in Gaza." Kirby accused Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich of making false claims. He described Smotrich's assertions that a ceasefire agreement would be a capitulation to Hamas as "completely wrong." Kirby added that Smotrich is misleading the Israeli public.
