Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Atti stated today, Monday, that "Israel has carried out a systematic targeting of UNRWA schools and facilities in violation of international law." During a press conference with UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini, Abdel Atti said, "We will not accept the existence of an alternative to UNRWA to assist the Palestinian people," adding, "We demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and unconditional aid to the region." He continued, "Israel's use of hunger as a weapon in the Gaza war is unacceptable."
For his part, Lazzarini stated, "We are facing the loss of an entire generation in Gaza, and we must return children to a safe educational environment." He added, "About 250,000 people have been displaced from Khan Younis for the sixth or seventh time, and there is no safe place in Gaza." Lazzarini highlighted that "50% of our institutions in Gaza have been destroyed, and more than 500 people were killed while in our facilities."
