The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassim Al-Budaiwi, expressed grave concern regarding the military escalation in Lebanon. In a statement, Al-Budaiwi called on all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint to spare the region and its peoples from the dangers of war and its repercussions. The statement condemned the announcement by "Israeli occupying forces" regarding the approval of a plan to launch an attack on Lebanon, stressing the importance of implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which calls for the cessation of all military operations in Lebanon. The Secretary-General underscored the necessity of compliance with UN Security Council Resolution 2735, issued on June 10, regarding the ceasefire and the cessation of all military actions in the Gaza Strip. He also reaffirmed the GCC's steadfast position towards Lebanon, in line with the resolutions adopted by the Supreme Council during its 44th session (December 2023 – Doha), regarding support for the Lebanese people and continuous backing for Lebanon's sovereignty, security, stability, and territorial integrity.
