The head of the NGO Pilgrimage Mission in Egypt, Ayman Abdel-Mawgood, announced today, Saturday, an increase in the number of deaths among regular Egyptian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia during this year's Hajj. In a phone interview on the program "Hadret al-Muwatin," Ayman Abdel-Mawgood emphasized the need to learn from the mistakes that occurred during this year's Hajj season, as a large number of Egyptians entered Saudi Arabia with irregular visas.
Abdel-Mawgood pointed out that Egypt has a quota of official Hajj visas issued every year, which are distributed among the organizing bodies such as "Solidarity" and "Interior," with a total of 50,000 visas. He indicated that the official mission's situation is stable, noting that the number of deaths within the official mission has reached 31 pilgrims out of 50,000, which is an increase compared to the figure announced by the Ministry of Health a couple of days ago.
