In Pictures: A Special Operation Captures a Gang

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division announced today, Thursday, that "on November 2, 2023, during the day, two masked individuals on an unknown red motorcycle approached a delivery worker in the Ramlet el-Baydah area, struck him on the head with a gun, and stole a sum of money from him. One of them also fired a gun, injuring a black Toyota vehicle that was passing by, before fleeing to an unknown location, while the delivery worker was taken to the hospital for treatment. Media outlets and social media circulated footage of the incident.

Immediately, the Information Branch was tasked with investigative procedures to uncover the identity of the perpetrators. As a result of diligent follow-up, the branch identified the individuals involved in the robbery: A.D. (born in 1987, Lebanese, perpetrator), R.D. (born in 1984, unregistered, perpetrator), and Y.D. (born in 1989, unregistered, mastermind), all known for their bad reputation. Orders were given to the special forces of the branch to locate and apprehend them.

On November 22, 2023, after careful monitoring, these special forces found the first suspect in the Hayy el-Sellom area, accompanied by two other suspects involved in drug-related issues. During their arrest, one of them, A.N.D. (born in 1990, Lebanese), fired at the forces, who were forced to respond and arrest him, seizing his gun along with a bag containing a quantity of drugs prepared for distribution. The forces also arrested J.N. (born in 1999, Lebanese) and the perpetrator A.D.

Simultaneously, the special forces apprehended the second perpetrator of the robbery and the mastermind of the operation in the Amrousieh area and seized forged official documents in their possession. A.D. and R.D. confessed to robbing the delivery worker of $4,400, planned and instigated by the third suspect (Y.D.), who admitted to the charges against him. Both A.N.D. and J.N. also confessed to their involvement in drug-related crimes. Legal procedures were taken against all, and they, along with the seized items, were handed over to the relevant authorities in accordance with the instructions of the competent judiciary."
