The town of Mansouri in southern Lebanon mourned the loss of its daughter, Nadine Khashab. According to information reported by a news site, the deceased had hired a company to spray pesticides in her home, which led to her inhaling toxic substances and subsequently dying shortly after. The properties that make pesticides lethal to insects can sometimes render them toxic to humans as well. The most dangerous cases of pesticide poisoning are due to those containing organophosphates and carbamates. Organophosphate types include malathion, parathion, fenitrothion, durban, diazinon, chlorpyrifos, and sarin. Some of these compounds are derived from nerve gases. Carbamates include aldicarb, carbaryl, carbofuran, phenobarbital, and oxamyl.
