The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division, issued the following statement today, Friday: "As part of the continuous follow-up by the Internal Security Forces to combat the theft operations of electrical cables from the public network in various Lebanese areas, which have increased recently in many regions of Western Bekaa by unknown individuals, the specialized units in the Information Branch intensified their field and intelligence measures to identify and arrest the perpetrators. As a result of extensive investigations and inquiries, they were able to determine the identities of those involved, including one M. T. (born in 2000, Syrian). On 12-28-2023, after meticulous surveillance, one of the branch patrols arrested him in a well-planned ambush in Kawkaba - Al-Muhaydetheh. During interrogation, he confessed to the accusations regarding the execution of multiple theft operations of electrical cables from the public network in various areas of Western Bekaa, in collaboration with others, and he also admitted to drug abuse. Legal action has been taken against him, and he has been referred to the appropriate authority, based on the direction of the competent judiciary, and efforts are still ongoing to arrest the remaining perpetrators."
