Russian doctor Sergey Agapkin mentioned that balancing the amounts of fatty acids obtained from food helps prolong life and enhances heart function. During a program on "Russia" TV channel, the doctor said: "Consuming certain types of vegetable oils in excess can negatively affect heart health, so we should choose oils rich in beneficial substances and have lower levels of saturated fatty acids that can lead to atherosclerosis."
He added: "Consuming large amounts of sunflower oil with food may lead to increased concentrations of omega-6 fatty acids in the body, which could disrupt the concentrations of beneficial omega-3 fatty acids. Therefore, I recommend mixing one part sunflower oil with two parts flaxseed oil and adding the mixture to food, as flaxseed oil is rich in omega-3."
The doctor pointed out that omega-3 fatty acids found in flaxseeds help combat inflammation in the body, unlike omega-6 fatty acids, whose excess promotes inflammatory processes that cause aging, heart diseases, and vascular diseases. Therefore, balancing fatty acids is crucial for overall health.
Earlier, Russian doctor and immunology specialist Andrei Prodius noted that consuming sunflower seeds in moderation is beneficial for health as they contain vitamin B1, essential for nerve health, and are also an important source of vitamin E, which is necessary for eye health.
