Israel Begins Consultations to Prepare for the Day After in Gaza Post-War

The U.S. State Department revealed that "Israel has started preliminary local consultations to develop a plan for the day after the war in Gaza." The State Department stated, "We are still urging the Israeli government to minimize civilian casualties resulting from its military operations in Gaza," adding, "We continue to seek a ceasefire in Gaza." The department indicated, "We will continue to pressure Israel to engage in a process that leads to a lasting solution to the conflict with the Palestinians." The U.S. State Department reported that "our estimates suggest that a ceasefire in Gaza will open the door to an agreement that resolves the crisis between Israel and Hezbollah."
