The embassy stated: "Travel advice for Bangladesh – Do not travel there." Additionally, the State Department has allowed U.S. government employees who are not performing essential emergency duties, as well as their family members, to leave Bangladesh. The embassy noted: "Terrorist attacks could occur without warning, targeting public places, tourist sites, transportation hubs, markets, shopping centers, restaurants, places of worship, schools, and government offices."
