Kremlin: We Cannot Comment on Trump's Proposal to End the War

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated today, Tuesday, that "Russia cannot comment on Donald Trump's proposal to end the war in Ukraine as it is not familiar with the details." Trump mentioned during last week's debate with President Joe Biden that he would reach a settlement for the war if he wins the U.S. elections in November, before officially taking office in January. Peskov added to reporters: "This is not the first comment from Trump on this matter; he has made similar remarks before. We cannot comment on the proposal without knowing the details." The Kremlin stated that any peace plan proposed by a potential future Trump administration must reflect the realities on the ground, where Russian forces control nearly one-fifth of Ukraine's territory, emphasizing that President Vladimir Putin is open to dialogue. Ukraine contends that Russia's terms for ending the war amount to demands for surrender.
