Lebanese fencer Philippe Waqim lost narrowly in the first round of the individual foil competition on Monday morning at the Grand Palais in Paris. Waqim, representing Lebanon at the Paris 2024 Olympics, faced an honorable defeat against Taiwan's Yi Tong Chien with a score of 15 touches to 13. It is noted that in foil fencing, which is one of the three fencing disciplines, the match is held in three periods, each lasting three minutes, with a one-minute break after each period. The winner is the one who scores the most touches by the end of the scheduled time or the first to reach 15 points.
