Brussels has refused to host a football match between Belgium and Israel due to security concerns stemming from tensions related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The municipality of Brussels deemed it "impossible" to host the first round match in the second group of the UEFA Nations League, scheduled for September 6. In a statement, they said: "Holding such a match in our capital, during this particularly troubled time, will undoubtedly lead to large demonstrations and counter-demonstrations, endangering the safety of spectators, players, Brussels residents, and our police force."
