The U.S. Central Command indicated today, Saturday, that "a U.S. guided-missile destroyer shot down 14 drones launched by the Houthis in Yemen over the Red Sea." The statement noted: "In the early hours of December 16 (Sanaa time), the U.S. guided-missile destroyer USS Carney (DDG 64), operating in the Red Sea, engaged 14 unmanned aerial systems launched in a wave of drones from Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen." It added: "The aerial systems were assessed to be suicide attack drones, and they were shot down without causing any damage to vessels in the area or reporting any injuries. Regional partners in the Red Sea were alerted to the threat."
