Malaysian Trade Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz indicated today, Tuesday, that "Malaysia and China will renew their economic cooperation agreement, which lasts five years, during the visit of Chinese Premier Li Qiang to Kuala Lumpur this week." The minister stated, "The two countries have agreed to implement the second phase of the economic and trade cooperation program, which was first signed in 2013." He added, "This initiative will further deepen relations in priority sectors such as high-value manufacturing, the digital economy and robotics, entrepreneurship and innovation development, startups, as well as research and development activities in agriculture and primary industries." Furthermore, he mentioned that during Li's visit to Malaysia from June 18 to 20, the two countries will also sign two memorandums of understanding on the digital economy and green development. The Malaysian Foreign Ministry announced in a statement that the Chinese guest is expected to hold a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and an official meeting with the country's ruler, Sultan Ibrahim.
