# Major Discovery in Indonesia!

Mubadala Energy announced today, Tuesday, a significant natural gas discovery in the exploratory well "Layaran-1," which was drilled in the "South Andaman" concession area, approximately 100 kilometers off the northern coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. Mubadala Energy operates the joint production contract "South Andaman," which is the company's first deepwater well. The well has been drilled to a depth of 4,208 meters in waters reaching 1,207 meters deep. The drilling process revealed a massive natural gas reservoir with a thickness exceeding 230 meters, and after conducting technical tests and data analysis, a flow of gas of excellent quality has been achieved, exceeding 30 million cubic feet per day.

With an operational stake of 80 percent in the "South Andaman" concession area, Mubadala Energy holds the largest concession area in the region. This positive discovery at the "Layaran-1" well will help reduce the risks for future exploratory operations targeting natural gas resources estimated at several trillion cubic feet of gas reserves, while also establishing a foundation for future growth, in line with the company's strategy favoring natural gas.

Mubadala Energy's CEO, Mansour Mohammed Al Hammadi, stated, "Building on our strategy to expand our natural gas portfolio to support the energy transition, this project will provide promising business opportunities and will add further momentum to our strategic growth journey. Alongside its immense significance for us at Mubadala Energy, this project is also a major achievement in supporting energy security in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.” He added, "We are proud to achieve this milestone relying on our technical and operational capabilities that meet international standards."

This new discovery marks the second successful well for Mubadala Energy in the Andaman area, following the success in discovering the "Timban-1" well in the "Andaman-2" concession, and it comes after the company's success in discovering the "Chinque-1" field located within the "SK 320" block in Malaysia. These discoveries contribute to adding massive production quantities for the company, reinforcing Mubadala Energy's journey to continue its growth in the region.
