The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) revealed today, Friday, that U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin discussed via phone with Israeli counterpart Yoav Galant the regional instability and the growing threat of escalation from Iran and "Hezbollah." The Pentagon added, "Secretary Austin informed Minister Galant that the United States continues to monitor the planning of attacks from Iran and its proxies, and that it is well-positioned throughout the region to defend Israel and protect U.S. personnel and facilities." The department noted that Austin and Galant discussed "the progress made towards securing a ceasefire and the release of all hostages, including eight Americans, held by Hamas in Gaza."
