Julian Nagelsmann, the coach of the German national team, admitted yesterday that it took some time to convince Toni Kroos to return to the national team as he will finish the last days of his career at the UEFA European Championship "Euro 2024." Kroos (34 years old) decided to retire internationally in 2021; however, a call from Nagelsmann changed the fate of the player (34 years old), who will now have the chance to bid farewell to his country's fans on the pitch while wearing the Germany jersey.
Nagelsmann said: "Toni is important for us. You can pass the ball to him at any time; he is a key player for everyone, especially for the young players." He added, "Convincing him was not easy; it took some time. He told me he would only participate if he felt we could win with the team, and then he said (yes, we will achieve that)."
He continued: "We just have to believe in ourselves; it's great that everyone in the stadium is cheering for you. I hope we all enjoy a major tournament tomorrow." He concluded, "I want us to be united as a country, and we all need to cheer tomorrow; we should take advantage of being the host nation."
