Afghanistan's Prime Minister Hasan Akhund said on Wednesday, during the celebration of the third anniversary of the Taliban's return to power, that the country must "uphold Islamic law." Akhund stated in a declaration read in Bagram, the former U.S. base in Afghanistan, that the Taliban authorities "bear the responsibility for maintaining Islamic law, protecting property and lives, and respecting our nation."
