U.S. State Department: We Are Working to Avoid Any Type of Escalation Between Israel and Hezbollah

The U.S. State Department confirmed today, Tuesday, that the United States will continue diplomatic efforts to avoid escalating the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. State Department Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel stated in a press briefing: "We are working towards a diplomatic solution that allows Israeli and Lebanese civilians to return to their homes and live in peace and security. We certainly want to avoid any type of escalation." These statements came following an Israeli strike targeting a senior Hezbollah leader in southern Beirut.
