Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's advisor, Mahmoud al-Habbash, confirmed that Hamas is straying from the right path and is merely issuing slogans, indicating that they want to replicate the genocide in Gaza in other areas. In response to Hamas leader abroad, Khaled Mishaal, al-Habbash stated that Gaza has been destroyed, and everyone is aware of this. He clarified that what is happening in Gaza is not fighting but genocide, emphasizing that Hamas seeks to entrench the division and normalize it.
He mentioned that the Oslo Agreement is a phase that has ended and is not something to cling to, stating that Hamas is indulging in political frivolity. In response to Mishaal, he described discussing the Oslo Agreement in the current circumstances as "futility." Al-Habbash also stated that Hamas wants the Palestinian people to suffer as a price for its policies and indicated that Hamas is the one that staged a coup and impedes national unity.
Al-Habbash reiterated that Hamas is the cause of the division, and the Palestinian people recognize this, noting that they are the ones who overturned the unity government. He added that Hamas wants the authority to hold elections without Jerusalem, describing this as betrayal and asserting that it serves to separate Gaza from the West Bank. He affirmed that the Palestinian people are not a commodity to be exploited for Hamas's ambitions.
**Khaled Mishaal's Statements**
Mishaal had considered the destruction of Gaza to be "the price of resistance," adding that "the costs of resistance are high, and Gaza has been destroyed, which is undeniable." He further remarked that "we have indeed entered the post-Oslo phase, and there is no value in discussing it now." Mishaal continued that "the reality forces us to effectively move beyond the Oslo Agreement." He also stated that "everyone must engage in the fight, not just Gaza," noting that "reorganizing the Palestinian house is an inevitable requirement that cannot be avoided." He added, "We should not wait until the end of the battle to rearrange the Palestinian house."
