The Public Prosecution in Kuwait has ordered the arrest of an individual who criticized the Emir of the country, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, regarding the organizational measures taken by the Ministry of Interior concerning "Husainiyat" operations.
According to a statement from the Public Prosecution, it read: "The Public Prosecution has ordered the arrest and bringing of a citizen for his accusations against His Highness the Emir of Kuwait, criticizing his status, undermining the rights and authority of the Emir, through a post on a social media platform in the context of his criticism of the Ministry of Interior’s procedures regarding the organization of 'Husainiyat' and the practice of Shia rituals in the current month of Muharram. The investigation procedures are ongoing."
It is noteworthy that the Kuwaiti Public Prosecution previously issued a statement in May regarding a similar incident, in which they stated: "The Public Prosecution ordered the provisional detention of a citizen and the arrest and bringing of others for accusing them of publishing statements through their accounts on the social media platform 'X' that included attacks on the rights and authorities of His Highness the Emir of Kuwait and personal insults against him." At that time, the Emir had delivered a recorded message to his people from the Seif Palace, announcing the dissolution of the National Assembly and the suspension of certain constitutional provisions for no more than four years.
In his message, the Emir emphasized that "Democracy as a way of life demands a significant degree of organization of public authorities and the distribution of their roles within a clear vision that achieves its goals. This vision imposes numerous controls on the legislative and executive authorities to ensure their compliance with its provisions."
