The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement: On September 23, 2022, in the outskirts of the town of Al-Tayba in the Beqaa Valley, a man’s body was found with a gunshot wound to the head from a military weapon. Following an investigation and the medical examiner's findings, it was determined that the deceased was identified as: K. Y. (born in 1985), and that the death was caused by a gunshot wound to the head from a "Kalashnikov" firearm.
Consequently, the specialized units within the Information Branch of the Internal Security Forces initiated field procedures to uncover the crime's circumstances. As a result of extensive investigations, the deceased's wife and his nephew became suspects in potentially committing the murder and disposing of the body at the site where it was found. The suspects are: K. J. (born in 1996, Syrian), the wife of the victim, and I. Y. (born in 1998, Lebanese), the victim's nephew.
Orders were given to locate and apprehend the aforementioned individuals. On September 27, 2022, after a careful observation and monitoring operation, the branch’s patrols arrested the suspects in the town of Brital. Simultaneously, a raid was conducted on the second suspect's house in the outskirts of the aforementioned town, where he was also arrested. The weapon used in the crime, a "Kalashnikov," along with a magazine containing 21 live rounds, was confiscated.
During interrogation, the wife confessed that she had planned and executed the murder with I. Y.’s assistance. She stated that the victim had subjected her to physical abuse. On the night of September 21-22, 2022, after the victim fell asleep, she left the house door open, allowing I. Y. to enter and shoot his uncle while he was sleeping. The bullet struck him in the head, resulting in instant death, and then he left the house. The following day, on the night of September 22, 2022, I. Y. returned and transported the body from the house in his pickup truck, disposing of it in the outskirts of Al-Tayba. Afterwards, he burned the victim's mattress, pillow, blanket, and pants in the outskirts of Brital to conceal the evidence of the crime. Legal procedures were taken against them, and they were referred along with the seized items to the relevant authorities based on the instructions of the competent judiciary.
