The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued a statement today, Monday, stating: "As part of the continuous monitoring carried out by the Internal Security Forces to reduce crimes across all Lebanese territories, personnel at the Dhahr al-Baydar checkpoint in the Regional Gendarmerie Unit managed to arrest several individuals on the Beirut-Bekaa route for the crime of possessing counterfeit currency and drugs, as follows: On September 4, 2023, the individual H. K. (born in 1998, Palestinian nationality) was arrested while in a Mercedes vehicle with a quantity of hashish in his possession, accompanied by A. K. (born in 1992), who is also under suspicion of drug use."
The statement continued: "On the same date, the checkpoint personnel arrested citizen S. A. (born in 1984) while driving an unregistered Toyota vehicle with tinted windows and found a firearm without a license in his possession, in addition to a counterfeit tinted window permit."
The Directorate noted that "on the morning of September 5, 2023, citizen R. N. (born in 1996) was arrested while driving a black Kia Rio, and a $50 counterfeit banknote was seized."
It added: "On the same morning, officers arrested citizen R. S. (born in 1983) while in a Toyota pickup, with a bag containing a quantity of cocaine."
The arrested individuals, along with the seized items, were handed over to the Dhahr al-Baydar police station for legal proceedings against them. The Dhahr al-Baydar checkpoint personnel have arrested several individuals at different dates for possessing drugs and counterfeit currency.
