Abdullah bin Zayed: Establishing a Global Humanitarian Response System for Gaza Relief

The UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan met in Geneva with Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

During the meeting, they discussed joint cooperation between the UAE and the ICRC in humanitarian and relief efforts, focusing on supporting the humanitarian needs of civilians affected in Gaza, Syria, Ukraine, Sudan, and Afghanistan.

Both sides reviewed the initiatives undertaken by the UAE to deliver humanitarian aid to affected areas and populations worldwide. They discussed mechanisms to enhance international cooperation to support the humanitarian response system for civilians in Gaza, as well as regional and international efforts aimed at achieving a sustainable ceasefire to protect all civilians and provide necessary humanitarian support to the Palestinian people.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed emphasized the important humanitarian and relief role played by the ICRC, commending the committee's significant efforts and commitment to carrying out its noble humanitarian tasks.

He highlighted the UAE's eagerness, represented through its humanitarian arms and concerned institutions, to cooperate with the ICRC and extend humanitarian aid to those in need across the globe.

He affirmed that the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Gaza require the international community to collaborate in establishing a global humanitarian response system to aid civilians in the region and create safe and sustainable pathways to deliver humanitarian assistance without obstacles, thus alleviating their suffering.
