The far-right Israeli Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu has sparked controversy again over the "occupation of the Sinai Peninsula" in Egypt. The post encourages buying a shirt printed with what is purported to be a map of Israel, including the West Bank, Gaza, and Sinai, featuring the slogan "Occupation Now." The minister posted, "Have you seen this beautiful shirt?? I just ordered it for the whole family!... This is how awareness is created!" He added, "Go to the link and get shirts, magnets, stickers, take them on trips, and give them to all the kids to wear, and soon there will be sizes for little kids... Put them on the car, let's create awareness." He continued, "The people are demanding occupation! Occupation now!" Eliyahu concluded his post with a link to a website selling merchandise with the slogan "Occupation Now," calling for the expansion of Israeli sovereignty in Sinai, southern Lebanon, and ultimately Jordan, as reported by the "Times of Israel." In November 2023, the minister, who belongs to the far-right "Otzma Yehudit" party led by Itamar Ben Gvir, made a controversial statement during a radio interview suggesting that "dropping a nuclear bomb on Gaza is an option on the table."
