The Grand Mufti of the Republic Sheikh Abdul Latif Deryan received a delegation from Hamas, led by political bureau member Musa Abu Marzouk, which included head of the foreign national relations department Ali Baraka and the movement's representative in Lebanon Ahmed Abdul Hadi. After the meeting, Abu Marzouk stated: "We reviewed the conditions in the camps in our beloved Lebanon, particularly the clashes that occurred yesterday and from July 29. We informed His Eminence about the meeting that took place yesterday between us and our brothers in Fatah, where we established binding agreements for a ceasefire, the withdrawal of military appearances, the return of the displaced, the handing over of wanted individuals, and the prohibition of Palestinian fighting and Palestinian bloodshed. Weapons must not be used among our Palestinian people at all. This weapon is for the defense of Palestine and not for fighting among each other. We agreed with Fatah that the responsibility for security should be a joint force, not a single faction, as all factions are responsible for the camp. We also agreed on withdrawing armed individuals from schools and calming the atmosphere, considering that the refugees have left the camp." He added: "We kept him informed about this meeting and other meetings with Lebanese officials," emphasizing, "The security of Lebanon concerns us and is an essential part of our security, and we are striving with all our efforts to realize the right of return." In response to a question about breaches of agreements, he said: "God willing, the last agreement will not be breached."
