The Israeli army announced early on Saturday the assassination of an official in the Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli army stated in a post on its X account titled, "A fake worker in a humanitarian aid organization by day, and a terrorist by night." The post added, "Elimination of Hossam Mansour, a leader of a squad in the internal security forces affiliated with Hamas." It continued, "Mansour was a director in a charity organization that transferred funds to terrorist organizations under the guise of humanitarian work."
The "Times of Israel" reported that Hamas-affiliated media stated that four other individuals were also killed in the airstrike that resulted in Mansour's death, which targeted a distribution center for aid in Khan Younis, southern Gaza. The Palestinian Civil Defense in Gaza reported on Friday that rescue teams had retrieved around 60 bodies of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces over the week from the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood and the outskirts of the Al-Sabra neighborhood in Gaza City.
Residents and rescue teams pointed to the presence of Israeli snipers and tanks on elevated lands in some locations, despite the withdrawal of tanks from certain areas, warning families against attempting to return to their homes in those areas. The Israeli army mentioned that it found drones and other weapons within what it described as a "combat complex" of Hamas in the former premises of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in Gaza City, adding that it evacuated civilians from the area before launching the attack.
