Smuggling of Agricultural Products and Fresh Milk: Statement from the Ministry of Agriculture

The Ministry of Agriculture indicated that, "With the increase in large-scale smuggling of agricultural products and fresh milk entering the country through illegal means, Minister of Agriculture Abbas Al-Hajj Hassan has today sent letters of appeal to all relevant ministries and Lebanese security forces for immediate cooperation and coordination to control and combat this dangerous phenomenon."

The statement mentioned that "these products, which are smuggled into the Lebanese market illegally, pose a serious threat to consumer health, harm the national economy, and negatively affect the role of the agricultural sector in providing job opportunities and economic stability."

The ministry hopes for "effective cooperation from everyone to enhance efforts in combating smuggling and ensuring the availability of safe and healthy agricultural products for citizens in Lebanon. It calls on all citizens and stakeholders to cooperate and report any suspicious activities related to the smuggling of these products, in order to protect the national economy and public health."

It documented that "joint cooperation can enable us to achieve positive results and put an end to this harmful phenomenon in the near term."
