Cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Boris Rodinenko points out that "30 percent of strokes are caused by blockage of the carotid artery." According to him, many people do not pay attention to symptoms like forgetfulness, lack of sleep, and slight dizziness, even though they may indicate issues with the carotid artery. He states, "As atherosclerotic plaques grow larger and completely block the carotid artery, a collateral circulation process occurs, and brain cells adapt to the new conditions. This can manifest as slight memory impairment and decreased reaction and performance." He mentions that this issue can be addressed by placing a stent in the blocked carotid artery to restore normal blood flow.
