China: 7 People Die in Coal Mine Accident

Seven people died today, Wednesday, due to an accident in a coal mine in Sichuan Province, southwestern China. The Xinhua News Agency reported that local emergency management authorities stated that "eight workers were trapped during an effort to seal openings where air was leaking in a ventilation shaft in the coal mine located in Wutongqiao District, Leshan City, Sichuan Province." Rescue efforts confirmed the deaths of seven individuals, while search and rescue operations continue for the person still missing.
