FIFA announced that it will distribute more than $200 million to the clubs that grant permission for their players to participate with their national teams in the tournament. Additionally, each player will receive $370,000. The World Cup winner will receive up to $42 million, while the runner-up will get $30 million, and the team finishing third will receive $27 million. The fourth-placed team will get $25 million.
Teams ranked fifth to eighth will receive $17 million each, while teams ranked ninth to sixteenth will receive $13 million each. Teams from seventeenth to thirty-second place will receive $9 million each.
As mentioned by FIFA, an amount of $10,000 per day will be multiplied by the number of days each player stays in the World Cup, starting from two weeks before the opening match until one day after their national team's last match. The total amount is then distributed to the clubs for which the player played in the two years prior to the World Cup.
It is worth noting that Qatar hosts the World Cup finals from November 20 to December 18, 2022, marking the first time an Arab country hosts this major football event, and for the first time in winter in the history of the tournament. Starting from the 2026 edition in the USA, in collaboration with Canada and Mexico, the number of participating teams will increase to 48.
