Investigation into Armed Robbery in Akkar

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces announced the arrest of two individuals involved in an armed robbery in the Kweikhat area of Akkar. According to the directorate, on the morning of April 29, 2024, four masked unidentified individuals intercepted a "Pickup - Tacoma" vehicle driven by citizen T.H. (38 years old) and robbed him at gunpoint, taking his vehicle, an amount of 200 million Lebanese pounds, 800 US dollars, a military pistol, and his mobile phone. They subsequently tied him up and threw him on the roadside before fleeing to an unknown location.

About an hour later, the pickup was found in the village of Tal Abbas - Halba, along with the victim's mobile phone. Immediately, the specialized units in the Information Branch of the Internal Security Forces began their field and investigative procedures to identify and arrest the robbery gang members. Following extensive investigations and surveillance, the branch was able to identify the suspects, including Q.H. (born in 1999, Lebanese) and Sh.Z. (born in 2005, Syrian).

On May 1, 2024, after careful monitoring, one of the branch patrols arrested the aforementioned individuals in the town of Kousha. A search of Q.H. revealed a military pistol (which had been stolen from T.H.). During the investigation, Q.H. admitted that he, along with three others, had robbed T.H. at gunpoint in Kweikhat, after being lured by Sh.Z., who also confessed to her involvement.

Legal action was taken against them, and they, along with the seized items, were handed over to the relevant authorities, based on the instructions of the competent judicial authorities. Efforts are ongoing to arrest other accomplices. Within 48 hours, the Information Branch uncovered the circumstances of the armed robbery in Kweikhat, arresting two of the involved individuals. #Internal_Security #Security_is_a_Trust
