U.S. media reported today, Sunday, that a scuffle and altercation occurred among members of Congress from both the Republican and Democratic parties during the vote on the aid package for Ukraine. The Fox News network indicated that the clash happened as Democrats waved Ukrainian flags during the session while voting on the aid package.
In this context, Republican representative Mark Molinaro accused Democratic lawmakers of violating protocol by waving the Ukrainian flags, adding that this action was against the rules. He pointed out that shouts were raised by Democratic lawmakers once the voting time for financial aid to Ukraine had ended.
Meanwhile, Florida Republican representative Anna Paulina Luna approached the microphone stating, "Lower those damn flags," which provoked further verbal responses from Democrats. Republican senator from Kentucky, Rand Paul, shared a video of the voting on social media showing Democrats holding Ukrainian flags, criticizing the allocation of "hard-earned money from Americans to a corrupt foreign regime."
The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill appropriating $26.38 billion in aid for Israel, amid ongoing war in Gaza following the Hamas attack named "Al-Aqsa Flood" on October 7. Voting data showed that 366 members of the House approved the bill, named the "Supplemental Security Appropriations Act for Israel," while 58 members voted against it.
The bill includes $4 billion in allocations for renewing Israel’s two air defense systems, "Iron Dome" and "David's Sling," $1.2 billion for the directed energy weapon system "Iron Beam," $2.4 billion for U.S. military operations in the region, and $3.5 billion for the purchase of advanced weapons systems, equipment, and military services through the foreign military financing program.
