Romanian authorities announced today, Friday, the registration of two deaths due to the measles outbreak in the country, with the total number of infections exceeding 2,700 cases across 35 counties. The statement from the authorities mentioned: "The National Institute of Public Health reported the death of a seven-month-old child from Brașov County due to measles, and the second death occurred in Bucharest, where an unvaccinated 25-year-old young man died." A total of 2,735 measles cases have been confirmed in Romania this year across 35 counties. On December 5, the Romanian Ministry of Health declared a nationwide measles epidemic on Tuesday after nearly 2,000 new cases were recorded in 29 out of 41 counties. Officials stated that this will help boost vaccination rates among at-risk children. The ministry has identified children aged between 9 to 11 months, as well as those who have not completed their vaccination schedule, as the main targets of the immunization campaign and committed to conducting a public awareness campaign to address the current crisis.
