The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that "Tesla is planning to recall 9,136 Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) of the Model X due to a roof defect that may lead to part of it detaching, increasing the risk of accidents." The administration stated in a message dated August 20: "The two decorative parts at the front and middle of the car's roof may have been bonded without a proper adhesive layer. Therefore, one or both parts may detach from the vehicle." The message also indicated that Tesla will test the adhesion strength of these two roof parts and will reinstall them for free as needed.
