The official spokesman for the "Qassam Brigades," Abu Ubaida, announced that "after investigating the killing of one of the enemy’s captives by his guard, it became clear that the guard acted out of revenge against the instructions after receiving news of the martyrdom of his two children in one of the enemy's massacres." Abu Ubaida held "the enemy fully responsible for all the suffering and dangers faced by its captives as a result of its violation of all humanitarian and ethical treatment rules and its practice of brutal genocide against our people." He confirmed that "the incident does not reflect our ethics and religious teachings in dealing with captives, and we will tighten the instructions following the recurrence of the incident in two cases so far."
