A statement was issued by the President of the Lebanese Forces Party, Samir Jaja, which said: "Four months have passed since the assassination of Pascal Suleiman, the coordinator of the Lebanese Forces in Jbeil, and the truth has not yet been fully revealed. While it is true that five individuals are detained in the Lebanese Army's Intelligence Directorate, the gang leader Zakaria Zafir Qassem and one of the key figures, Firas Riyad Mimo, remain in the custody of the Syrian authorities, who refuse to hand them over to the Lebanese authorities.
The question for the Ministers of Justice and Foreign Affairs is: Why do the Syrian authorities refuse to extradite Zakaria and Mimo, who are wanted in the murder of Lebanese citizen Pascal Suleiman, while they are detained in Syrian prisons on one hand, and sought by Lebanese judicial authorities on the other hand? Their detention would be the entry point to uncover the backgrounds of the assassination and the parties responsible for it.
It is the least one can expect that the Ministers of Justice and Foreign Affairs, along with the relevant judicial and security administrations, take swift measures with the Syrian government to retrieve these wanted individuals, and we are waiting."
