The Qatari, Egyptian, and American mediators have called on Israel and the "Hamas" movement to establish a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and release hostages. The Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported a joint statement by the three mediators, stating: "Both the State of Qatar, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the United States of America collectively, as mediators in the ongoing discussions to ensure a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages and detainees, called on 'Hamas' and Israel to finalize an agreement that embodies the principles outlined by U.S. President Joe Biden on May 31, 2024."
Earlier, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani expressed hopes that all parties would respond positively to the principles of the ceasefire proposal put forward by the U.S. president. The official Qatari news agency reported that the Prime Minister made these statements during a phone call with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken. He added that the principles of the ceasefire proposal include "the withdrawal of Israeli forces from all populated areas in the Gaza Strip, the release of detainees including women, the elderly, and the wounded, in exchange for the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, and the entry of aid into the region."
In this context, a spokesperson for the U.S. State Department stated that Blinken spoke by phone with senior officials from the UAE, Qatar, and Egypt regarding a proposal to end the conflict in Gaza. Qatar and Egypt are mediating talks aimed at achieving a ceasefire between Israel and the "Hamas" movement. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry noted that Minister Sameh Shoukry also conveyed during a call with Blinken on Saturday that Egypt will support all efforts aimed at ending the war in Gaza.
