There is still uncertainty surrounding the relationship between French player Karim Benzema and his club Al-Ittihad during the current 2023-2024 season. Recent periods have revealed Benzema's strong desire to leave Al-Ittihad, particularly after the shocking exit from the 2023 Club World Cup. Benzema missed some training sessions with the "Giant" before returning recently, while his name has been associated with potential moves to Arsenal and Chelsea.
The Saudi program "Dourina Gheer" revealed a surprise regarding the true reason behind the tense relationship between Benzema and the Al-Ittihad coach. It explained that "Benzema's crisis with Argentine coach Marcelo Gallardo is technical and not disciplinary, which opens the door for his future departure." It was confirmed that "the French player is not a confrontational person or one who loves crises, but he is struggling to adapt and has differing technical perspectives with Gallardo."
This is not the first crisis Benzema has faced since joining Al-Ittihad, as he was reportedly involved in the departure of former Portuguese coach Nuno Santo according to several media reports. Al-Ittihad had signed Benzema last summer on a three-year contract following a historic 14-year journey with Spanish club Real Madrid.
