Lebanese taekwondo star Letitia Aoun will be competing in the final match for the Lebanese delegation at the Summer Olympics (Paris 2024) at 12:35 PM on Thursday, August 8, Beirut time. She will face the seventh-ranked Olympic athlete from Chinese Taipei, Luo Xiaoling, in the 57 kg weight category during the Round of 16.
Aoun has distinguished herself as one of the top players on the national taekwondo team during international competitions, representing the Mont La Salle club. She qualified for the Paris Olympics during the qualifiers, which has long been her dream to transform into reality in the strongest sporting event, the Olympics. She has expressed her significant ambitions for achieving commendable results at the Paris Olympics, drawing from her impressive record of performance over the past years, including:
- 2018: Second place in the youth category at the continental level,
- 2021: 62nd place in the Olympic ranking,
- 2022: 25th place in the women’s world ranking,
- 2023: 19th place in the Olympic ranking and 12th place in the world ranking.
It is noteworthy that Aoun had engaged in a training camp near Nice, France, prior to her competitions, where she sought to isolate herself from the outside world to avoid pressures and ensure the best possible performance.
