The Egyptian club "Al Ahly" has officially announced its withdrawal from the Egypt Cup football tournament. Al Ahly stated in a press release: "Club President Mahmoud El Khatib held a lengthy meeting yesterday (Friday) with coach Marcel Koller, during which all matters concerning the first football team were discussed."
The statement continued: "During the meeting, El Khatib listened to Koller’s views on various technical issues. The meeting concluded with a comprehensive vision that serves the interests of the team and maintains its successful journey on both local and continental levels."
It added: "It was decided to grant the coaching staff a break starting today (yesterday, Friday) due to severe fatigue and the pressure of consecutive matches over the past period. Sami Komsan, the general coach, has been assigned to lead the team in the remaining three league matches."
