General Aoun to the Military: You Are the Hope of the Lebanese and the Guarantee for Lebanon Amid Current Challenges

On the occasion of the 24th anniversary of Resistance and Liberation Day, Army Commander General Joseph Aoun addressed the military in a "Command of the Day," affirming that they are "the hope of the Lebanese people, their source of strength, and their motivation to endure, the guarantee for Lebanon in light of the current conditions, and a point of trust for allied and friendly nations."

In his address, General Aoun stated: "O military personnel, as we commemorate the 24th anniversary of the Resistance and Liberation Day, Lebanon faces daily assaults and violations from the Israeli enemy, which has been engaged in a campaign of extermination against the Palestinian people for nearly seven months. While the current assaults are unprecedented in terms of destruction and loss, they are part of a long history of hostile actions perpetrated by the enemy against our homeland over the past decades."

He emphasized that this holiday is tied to a significant historical milestone represented by the liberation of a large part of our land from Israeli occupation and confronting its ambitions for our land and resources. He reminded everyone that preserving the achievement of liberation can only be maintained through national unity and actions that serve the nation's interests.

General Aoun stated: "You, military personnel, have demonstrated your genuine dedication to your military mission, the strength of your military creed, and your commitment to stand by your people and fulfill your duties no matter how severe the circumstances. All of this makes you the hope of the Lebanese people, their source of strength, their motivation to endure, the guarantee for Lebanon amidst current challenges, and a point of trust for friendly and brotherly nations."

He emphasized the importance of the exceptional support initiatives carried out by the armies of these nations, in addition to initiatives from Lebanese residents and expatriates, which significantly contribute to enhancing the army's capacity to confront challenges, fulfill its national responsibilities, maintain the continuity of its role and performance, and collaborate with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in accordance with UN Resolution 1701, alongside combating terrorism and monitoring the security situation in all regions and securing the borders within available means.

General Aoun concluded: "The exceptional circumstances require everyone to unify efforts, move beyond narrow calculations, and uphold their responsibilities. This is the only way to lift our nation and its institutions. The army will remain, as it has always been, the refuge of the Lebanese people and their source of strength. It will continue to adhere to the path of honor, sacrifice, and loyalty, remaining faithful to the legacy of its martyrs who watered their homeland with their blood, and will not hesitate to fulfill its duty no matter the sacrifices required."
