Military Retirees: We Regret the Excuses for Delayed Salary Payments

The movement of military retirees expressed its regret over the ongoing delays in salary payments occurring each month, whether for active service or retirement. Recently, it was announced that "this month there were also malfunctions or an employee was retired, among other excuses, which unfortunately seem to continue if the situation is not resolved and these actions do not cease."

In a statement, the movement requested the government, as soon as possible, to amend the salary scales, as we were promised that this would begin in June. It also indicated that there seems to be a deliberate procrastination and neglect in fulfilling the promises made. They called on all employees and retirees, both military and civilian, to reject the continuation of what is termed assistance, which undermines their rights and the continuity of public service, jeopardizing the future security of institutions and retirement, potentially leading to resignations or flight due to the dangers of continuing with such humiliating aid that some rejoice in, without a salary scale that fairly compensates everyone.

Furthermore, the movement highlighted that after amendments were made to the State Employees Cooperative regarding school assistance for state employees from primary school to university, increasing from 100 million to 300 million lira for those in active service and retirement, military personnel still face the same situation regarding active service and retirement. For instance, a ninth-grade military member received only 1 million and 400 thousand lira for a cost of 2000 dollars, which is humiliating, and they will not allow such performances that destroy their children's future and deprive them of education, especially considering that private schools and universities are expected to increase fees by 50% next year.

The movement called for the swift amendment of school assistance and the timely adjustment of salary scales. They urged all military retirees to be fully prepared, stating that the situation has become intolerable amid significant neglect of our rights while we are obligated, like any citizen or employee, to pay taxes and fees at a dollar rate of 89,500, while our salaries barely cover our electricity bills, contrary to what has been given to public administration employees under various forms of aid, which undermine their legitimate rights to a fair salary scale.
