The Lebanese Taekwondo Federation held its annual ceremony to distribute cups and awards to its champions in various belts and styles at the President Emile Lahoud Sports Complex (Dikwaneh - Mar Roukz). The event was attended by the South Korean ambassador, Dr. Il Park, the president of the Lebanese Taekwondo Federation, Dr. Habib Zhreefa, and members of the federation, along with the taekwondo family, including club presidents and members, coaches, referees, players, and their families, as well as journalists and media representatives.
The ceremony began with the Lebanese national anthem, followed by a speech from the event's hostess, Valeria Jalikine, and then a speech from Dr. Zhreefa, who welcomed the attendees and thanked the "taekwondo community" for their efforts over the years. He noted that 2023 was a remarkable year on all levels, with results meeting expectations and ambitions. He highlighted the significant role of clubs, coaches, and the families of players in encouraging them to practice the sport regularly.
Dr. Zhreefa stated that the federation successfully implemented its local and international agenda for 2023 in its entirety, despite the difficult political, economic, and military conditions in Lebanon and the region, affirming that the federation will continue its successful journey to develop taekwondo. He wished everyone joyful holidays and a successful, healthy, and prosperous 2024 filled with achievements.
For his part, the South Korean ambassador praised the Lebanese Taekwondo Federation, led by Dr. Habib Zhreefa, for its efforts in promoting taekwondo and commended the federation's successes. He congratulated the champions and their families for supporting their children in the sport they love. He concluded by stating that the South Korean government and its embassy in Lebanon will continue their active role in promoting taekwondo in Lebanon in collaboration with the Lebanese federation.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of awards to the champions by Park, Zhreefa, and members of the federation. Dr. Zhreefa received material assistance provided to the Lebanese Taekwondo Federation from the South Korean ambassador.
