The Ministry of Interior and Municipalities announced the resumption of work on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at the Traffic Management Authority for Vehicles and Registration - Vehicle Registration Department in Dekawanda, as well as in its branches in Sidon, Zahle, Nabatieh, and Tripoli.
In a statement, the ministry indicated that the work will be conducted three days a week, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, as follows:
- On Tuesdays, for the registration of imported vehicles that are being registered for the first time (according to a customs certificate) with chassis numbers ending in (0 – 1 – 2 – 3).
- On Wednesdays, for the registration of imported vehicles that are being registered for the first time (according to a customs certificate) with chassis numbers ending in (4 – 5 – 6).
- On Thursdays, for the registration of imported vehicles that are being registered for the first time (according to a customs certificate) with chassis numbers ending in (7 – 8 – 9).
The ministry noted that new imported vehicles, as indicated on their customs certificate, are exempt from technical inspection at the Vehicle Registration Department, and their owners should directly submit their applications to the registration office without bringing their vehicles to the department or its branches.
It is worth mentioning that this decision by the Ministry came after Lebanese authorities decided to resume this facility by elements of the army and internal security forces, following a halt in operations due to the judicial arrest of employees on corruption charges.
