Lebanese Security Arrests Gang Impersonating "International Judges"

Lebanese Security Arrests Gang Impersonating

A professional gang that impersonated international judges has been apprehended by Lebanese security forces after months of their activities across various regions in Lebanon, where they met with political leaders and judicial references, misleading them into believing they were following up on cases for Lebanese individuals in international courts. The Central Criminal Investigation Department, led by Brigadier General Nicolas Saad, managed to arrest the members of the gang consisting of four Lebanese individuals: Dr. Kh, R. A, R. Sh, and A. T in Beirut and the regions of Jal El Dib and Antelias in Mount Lebanon.

An informed source revealed to "Anbaa" that these individuals had devised a meticulous plan to trap a large number of citizens and extract substantial amounts of money from them in exchange for filing lawsuits in international courts to recover their rights abroad or even with the Lebanese state. It was pointed out that the Department of Investigations conducted preliminary investigations with the fraudulent gang members who had been active in scams for over two years, under the supervision of the state prosecutor at the Court of Cassation, Judge Mirna Klass, before referring the entire case to the public prosecution in Beirut.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang members deceived political leaders and Lebanese judges into believing they were members of the "International Court for Dispute Resolution," which has representatives in several European countries, claiming they lived abroad and had come to Lebanon to discuss the Lebanese file and the Syrian displacement issue, as well as to combat corruption and resolve international commercial disputes.

According to judicial sources, they successfully participated in several legal conferences and seminars, offering proposals to address the challenging social reality faced by judges in Lebanon, and managed to hold meetings with Lebanese politicians, including former Prime Minister Tammam Salam, former leader of the Progressive Socialist Party Walid Jumblatt, MP Tony Frangieh, and General Ashraf Rifi.

Following the indictment of these individuals, they were referred to the investigating judge in Beirut for questioning and to commence their judicial trial, according to the Kuwaiti "Anbaa."
