FBI Takes Over Investigation into Shooting Involving Trump

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) stated in a press release that it has taken over the investigation into a shooting that occurred at a campaign rally for former U.S. President Donald Trump, where he was injured by a bullet in the right ear. The assailant was killed, and one attendee was also killed while two others were injured in the attack.

The FBI added: "The bureau has assumed the role of the primary federal law enforcement agency in the investigation related to former President Donald Trump, which took place in Butler, Pennsylvania."

A statement shared on the social media platform X indicated that the U.S. Secret Service managed to "neutralize" the shooter at the rally in Pennsylvania, and that the assailant, who is now deceased, fired multiple rounds at the stage from an elevated position outside the event.

Anthony Guglielmi, the communications officer for the Secret Service, stated that "the U.S. Secret Service responded quickly with precautionary measures, and the former president is fine and undergoing evaluation."

He added, "One attendee died, and two others are seriously injured, and the incident is currently under investigation. The Secret Service has officially notified the FBI about it."

In turn, Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger announced via CNN that the suspect in the shooting was outside the location where the outdoor rally took place. He said, "I don't know how he got to the site… but he was outside," adding that he has no information about the suspect's identity.
