The Israeli Home Front Command announced that it has completed trials on a new location-based public warning message system, which is now operational. The new system relies on cellular broadcasting technology, which allows sending short messages to multiple phone users in a specific area. The Home Front Command stated that the system will enable users to "receive a message in large-scale emergency situations, such as missile launches at Israel." Alerts will appear on the user's phone without the need to install an application or take any prior action. An alarm sound will accompany the emergency message. The Home Front Command emphasized that the system is not intended to replace its application or sirens but is designed for "sudden large-scale emergency situations."
