After Jordanian security authorities revealed last week the seizure of explosives in a commercial store in the capital Amman, which were detonated by specialized devices, just two days after explosives were also found in a house in the southern Marka area, developments in a case that appears to be related to the same group that stored these explosives in both locations, Interior Minister Mazen Al-Fraih announced that "all parties involved in the explosives case found in Amman have been arrested." He stated, "The explosives seized in Amman were targeting national security," adding that "investigations into the explosives case are ongoing, and we will issue a statement with the results." Regarding the elections, he confirmed that "We will protect the elections, and boycotting them would be a big mistake." The Jordanian royal court announced the dissolution of the parliament, in accordance with a royal will from King Abdullah II.
